Research On The Impact Of Embedded Global Value Chains On China's Manufacturing Servitization

Under the trend of economic globalization,the production mode and international division of labor in global manufacturing are undergoing tremendous changes.China is actively participating in all production links of the global value chain,and China's manufacturing industry has achieved rapid development.China is a large manufacturing country but not a strong manufacturing country.Compared with developed countries such as Europe and the United States,the overall strength of the manufacturing industry still has large gaps and shortcomings.The traditional trade development model has been unable to meet the needs of China's economic development.China's manufacturing industry has been at the mid-low end of the global value chain for a long time,and it faces tremendous pressure in international competition.It is urgent to promote the upgrading and transformation of manufacturing,and manufacturing servitization can effectively promote the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing.Moreover,in the process of embedding the global value chain,China can improve the productivity of enterprises and the development level of China's manufacturing servitization through the effects of intermediate products and technology spillovers.Therefore,it is necessary to clearly embed the impact mechanism of global value chains on China's manufacturing services and remove obstacles affecting the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industries in order to increase the level of manufacturing servitization.This article takes manufacturing servitization and global value chains as research objects,and uses Chinese input-output data in the World Input-Output Table updated by WIOD in2016 to analyze and calculates the manufacturing servitization factor and the participation and position index of global value chains in 13 manufacturing sectors.The calculation results show that during the sample inspection period,China's manufacturing servitization has shown a clear trend of service-oriented,but the overall level of manufacturing servitization is still low.From the results of the classification of different industries' technology intensity,the input of service elements to high-tech manufacturing is greater than that of low-techmanufacturing.Based on this,the industry panel data is used to analyze the impact of embedded global value chains on China's manufacturing servitization.At the same time,based on the heterogeneity of industries,this paper separately studies the impact of embedded global value chains on the manufacturing servitization in low-tech industries and high-tech industries.The empirical analysis results show that: generally speaking,embedding the global value chain can improve China's manufacturing servitization;from the perspective of manufacturing industries in different technology categories,although the impact coefficients on manufacturing servitization are all positively correlated,the embedding of the global value chain in the high-tech manufacturing sector can promote the manufacturing servitization more than the low-tech industries.Based on the above conclusions,this article gives the following four policy recommendations: encourage enterprises to actively embed global value chains and accelerate the development of high-tech industries;improve corporate absorptive capacity and obtain technological innovation effects embedded in global value chains;accelerate manufacturing and service industries integrate with each other to improve the manufacturing servitization;connect with the “Belt and Road” national development initiative,and attach importance to the servitization transformation of China's traditional manufacturing industry.
