From Leisure To Community:the Leisure And Organization Of Qinggangshu Village In The Western Sichuan Plain

For some time."leisure"as a cultural symbol of Chengdu has not received the attention it deserves in the countryside.However,the free dimension contained in leisure,as well as the local cultural meaning and the villagers’ expectations for a better life,are of great value to the organization and construction of rural areas in the new era.But anthropology and other related disciplines often neglect to explore the internal relationship between the current leisure of villagers and the organization of rural areas,especially lacking the systematic examination of the dialectical relationship between leisure landscape,leisure livelihood and leisure life.In view of this,this research takes the leisure activities of villagers as the starting point,and aims at Qinggangshu Village,a traditional scattered village in the Western Sichuan Plain,to explore how it is gradually organized through the construction of leisure landscape widely participated in by villagers,as well as the leisure livelihood and leisure life of villagers,in the process of moving toward a moderate settlement village.Compared with the hustle and bustle of the Qinggangshu pier,the traditional scattered villagers do not have a strong perception and identification with Qinggangshu Village.Taking the opportunity to build a new rural complex,the villagers’ leisure time is becoming more and more abundant,and the living pattern is relatively concentrated,which creates external conditions for the organization of the village.Focusing on the collective goal of developing rural leisure tourism,villagers on the one hand began to take the initiative to adapt their leisure rhythm to the leisure activities of urban people,and at the same time tried to embrace and experience the leisure culture that was once far away from rural life.Through joint participation in the construction of leisure landscape,the happy and abundant water memories,the Linpan homes surrounded by water and fields,are integrated into the villagers’ living world in a more leisurely and adaptable form,and leisure has also become an important local consensus of the villagers for Qinggangshu village.Based on this local consensus,after the relatively successful land consolidation,the villagers began to gradually carry out livelihood activities featuring agritainment around rural leisure,showing a trend from spontaneous to organized.The villagers’ common understanding and practice of many cultural matters,such as rural elements,family relations,leisure experiences and Intangible Cultural Heritage discourse,have become an important social and cultural driving force behind the trend of village organization.Of course,the leisure livelihood of the villagers is not external to their daily life,but is highly integrated with the leisure landscape of the village.The organizational aspect of Qinggangshu village around leisure livelihood,also through the collective leisure activities of different types of villagers,profoundly affect and shape the individual leisure perception and behavior,so that the courtyard neighborhood is full of warmth,and the rural commonweal is an joyful experience with mutual help,interaction and reciprocity,which naturally also provides a more solid and sustainable mass foundation for the village’s organizational road.In short,leisure culture can only be expressed through the local people’s day and night life landscape,the widely participated livelihood,and the joy of building a homeland together,so that it is more likely to grow into a cultural force that promotes the organization of the village,and then highlights its important value of transcending the individual and benefiting the group and society.Moreover,the organizational effect of leisure on the village,in addition to being reflected in the interaction of landscape,livelihood and life,which helps the value shaping and behavior integration of villagers,is also closely related to its absorption and adaptation of urban elements.Based on the organizational aspect of villagers’ leisure,Qinggangshu Village can not only provide certain reference significance for the re-organization choice of traditional scattered villages to moderate settlement,but also expand our rational thinking on the revitalization of rural culture in China with villages as the carrier and field,as well as the integration of rural leisure culture industry and the daily life of villagers.In addition,it enlightens us to examine the symbols and symbolic meanings of villages in the new era beyond their regional attributes,and contribute more local wisdom to the diversified transformation and sustainable growth of villages.Continuing to explore the intrinsic relationship between leisure and rural organization has more far-reaching theoretical value and practical significance for the multi-dimensional simultaneous development of rural construction and the free growth of each individual.
