Research On Conjugate Relationship Between Universities And Cities

In the context of China’s continuous emphasis on “innovative development” and“coordinated development”,it is highly critical to correctly deal with the relationship between universities and cities.The state and relationship between universities and cities can better drive economic and social development,which has become a huge concern of administrative departments and academic circles.Conjugate is a pair of things connected according to a certain law,which affect and restrict each other through a certain law,having the practical basis of coordination and development.When the system is in the conjugate state,the internal friction is reduced,the system is more stable,and the development is more smooth.It is of great theoretical and practical significance to use the conjugate theory to explain the relationship between universities and cities,explore the conjugate driving mechanism of universities and cities,build the conjugate driving model,and put forward countermeasures for Huaihai Economic Zone through empirical analysis.The thesis establishes the role orientation of universities and cities,and explains the realistic basis of the conjugate relationship between them from different perspectives,such as conjugation theory,stakeholder theory and field theory.Although conjugate has the basic characteristics of universality,symmetry,regularity and dynamics,due to the diversity and complexity of social science problems,conjugate elements are often not completely symmetric.In the social field,because of different amount of resources occupied by universities and cities,the conjugate between them seems a paradox.But on the basis of tracing to the source,it is thought that the two systems can go beyond the geographical category and general symmetry relations.Moreover,in terms of interaction mode,development motivation and ecosystem paradigm,the relationship between the two systems is in line with the conjugate characteristics,showing the fit of field position.Regressing to the source of conjugate,the symmetry and fit are similar to the hyper-conjugate effect in organic chemistry.It weakens the symmetry of conjugate,but always follows and embodies the basic principle of conjugate.The two can form a conjugate system and become a dynamic,open and nonlinear set.In the scope of social space field,universities and cities are a partnership,bearing different social responsibilities and historical missions respectively.Universities’ development reflects the long-term development needs of society,while urban development is more about the current development demand of society,and the lag of any party will affect the social sustainable development.The conjugate between universities and cities is essentially the interaction of actors,reflecting the interaction of resources.Moreover,the conjugate relationship changes with the interaction of matter and energy in the social field.In a certain region,the closer the required level and the actual level of all kinds of resource elements in universities and cities are,the better the regional healthy operation would be.In this way,the overall function is coordinated,and all kinds of elements are closely linked and highly adaptable to the environment,jointly driving the sustainable development of economy and society.Finally,an optimal state-conjugate state is achieved.This thesis analyzes the external stakeholders of universities with the method of“benefit-power” two-dimensional quadrant analysis and believes that the external stakeholders of universities have different demands for higher education and there is a general interaction and game relationship between stakeholders and universities.Self-interest and others’ interests should be combined by means of government regulation,enterprise participation and social intervention.The competition and compromise relationship formed by the conjugate between universities and cities constitutes an ecological paradigm,a nonlinear equal relationship without losing ecological rationality and ecological value.When the conjugate state is reached,the maximum efficiency and benefit would be created with the minimum management cost.The ultimate value of conjugate between universities and cities is reflected in driving the sustainable development of economy and society.The conjugate mechanism is mainly based on four factual conditions: symbiosis,dependence,interaction and competition.It is based on such factual conditions that universities and cities in the social field are likely to be in a conjugated state,thereby promoting social sustainable development.In order to build a conjugate relationship model between universities and cities,this thesis empirically analyzes the degree of the conjugated state between universities and cities in Huaihai Economic Zone,and introduces structural equation model as an analysis tool,which consists of four latent variables: urban input,urban output,universities and social economy.By calculating the conjugate coefficient of university and city development,the ranking of cities in Huaihai Economic Zone is determined by comparing the influence of city on university,university on city,city on social economy and university on social economy.On this basis,the conjugate levels of universities and urban development are divided,and 20 cities in Huaihai Economic Zone are roughly classified into six categories from two perspectives of conjugate trend degree and urban development level.Among the cities with high conjugate tendency,Linyi,Tai’an,Jining and Yancheng belong to high-level developing cities,Kaifeng,Huai ’an,Rizhao and Heze are medium-leveled,while Bengbu and Huaibei are low-leveled.Among the cities with low conjugate tendency,Xuzhou is a high-level developing city,Lianyungang,Zhoukou,Fuyang,Suqian,Zaozhuang and Suzhou are medium-leveled,while Laiwu,Shangqiu and Bozhou are low-leveled.Through empirical analysis,it is concluded that the degree of conjugate trend between universities and cities in Huaihai Economic Zone needs to be improved on the whole.There is uncertainty between the "development level" of the city and the "conjugation level" of universities and cities.The former is often not proportional to the latter.In addition,Cities with both high "development level" and high "conjugate level" should be expanded,becoming powerful growth poles to drive regional development.Finally,on the basis of theoretical analysis and empirical research,this thesis puts forward the multi-dimensional policies and paths of the conjugated development of universities and cities in Huaihai Economic Zone.It is believed that the development of higher education must be accelerated to enhance the capacity to support regional development,the quality of urban development must be improved to drive the development of regional higher education,and universities and cities must be conjugated to promote regional sustainable development.Through the multi-angle adjustment to the degree of the conjugate state between universities and cities in Huaihai Economic Zone by stakeholders such as universities,governments,markets and social organizations,the "Pareto improvement" in the sense of economics and sociology can be realized.There are 56 figures,22 tables and 357 references in
