With the rapid development of the economic society and continuous improvement in the level of openness to the outside world,the standards for the way higher education is run,and the mode of educating people are becoming higher and higher.Facing the new era,new opportunities,and challenges,the vigorous cultivation of high-quality,international,and innovative talent has become an important responsibility and mission of higher education reform.Private universities play an essential role in cultivating high-quality,international,and applied talents and promoting local economic and social development in this process.During the period of transformation and development of private colleges and universities,Guangdong private undergraduate colleges and universities will face issues such as how to promote internationalization strategies and promote high-level development of the school,which is worth exploring in-depth.Guangdong private undergraduate colleges and universities are located at the forefront of reform and development.The internationalization strategy of the school has started early and developed rapidly.This has also brought an excellent opportunity for the construction of the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong,Hong Kong,Macao,and the research will be of typical and forward-looking significance.This study adopts the literature method,questionnaire method,interview method,and case study method.Based on the literature research,this article provides basic factual materials and uses questionnaire and interview methods to understand the actual situation from teachers,students,and management personnel of Guangdong private universities.A teacher questionnaire survey randomly selected teachers from five undergraduate colleges and universities in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong,Hong Kong,and Macao.A total of 328 questionnaires were distributed,and 296 valid questionnaires were recovered,with an effective rate of 90.24%.The student questionnaire survey was also conducted among randomly selected students from various majors in private universities in Guangdong.A total of 731 questionnaires were distributed,and 659 valid questionnaires were recovered,with an effective rate of90.15%.Manager interviews were conducted by randomly selecting school leaders and functional department leaders of the internationalization work of five private undergraduate universities in Guangdong Province.The interviewees were coded with codes A,B,C,D,and E.The forms of interviews included face-to-face interviews,email interviews,and telephone interviews.The case study takes one of the five universities as a typical example for more in-depth and detailed exploration.Based on the combination of domestic and foreign theoretical perspectives and practical exploration results on the internationalization of higher education institutions,this study attempts to focus on the current situation,problems,and causes of internationalization of private undergraduate institutions in Guangdong,and explore possible paths and strategies for achieving new breakthroughs in the internationalization of private undergraduate institutions in the context of improving the construction of the Dawan District.After research,the following six conclusions are drawn:First,In today’s era characterized by globalization,popularization,and internationalization,it has become an urgent task for private colleges and universities to carry out international education,adapt to the strategic needs of national reform and opening up,introduce high-quality foreign resources,build high-level private colleges and universities,and cultivate high-quality international and applied talents to meet economic and social development.Second,This paper expounds on the history and reality of the development of Guangdong private undergraduate colleges and universities,analyzes the demand for high-quality,international,and applied talents in the construction of the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong,Hong Kong,and Macao,and proposes that Guangdong private undergraduate colleges and universities should carry out international education and improve the quality of education to meet the needs of the economic development of Guangdong Province and the construction of the Greater Bay Area.Third,Based on the analysis of the questionnaire results of teachers and students and interviews with international management personnel,this study presents a comprehensive overview of the current situation and problems of internationalization in Guangdong private undergraduate universities.Fourth,Using the "Triangle Coordination Model" theory,this paper analyzes the impact of the internationalization development of Guangdong private undergraduate colleges and universities,such as the government,the market,and universities.Using the "SWOT analysis method," it analyzes and discusses the advantages and opportunities of Guangdong private undergraduate colleges and universities in internationalization,as well as the adverse factors and challenges that Guangdong private undergraduate colleges and universities need to address in internationalization.Fifth,From an international comparison perspective,this study summarizes and refines important reform practices in the development of private universities in developed and developing countries and analyzes the key mechanisms and typical experiences.This can provide an important reference and inspiration for the internationalization development of private universities in China.Sixth,Based on the "Triangle Coordination Theory," this study constructs a theoretical model of internationalization development strategies and paths for Guangdong universities.It is recommended that the Chinese government improve policies and regulations for the international development of private universities,provide support for the international development of private undergraduate universities,and improve the award and scholarship system for international students in China.It is also suggested to give full play to the role of the market,raise funds for running schools through multiple channels,improve the quality assurance system,and carry out "order based" talent training and services.Additionally,Guangdong private undergraduate colleges and universities should establish international education concepts and strategies,carry out high-level international exchanges and cooperation,implement internationalization of teaching and research,expand the main body of education,strengthen joint education with domestic and foreign enterprises,and improve the international guarantee and service system.Overall,this study provides valuable insights into the current situation and challenges of internationalization in Guangdong private undergraduate universities and offers suggestions for future development strategies and paths.
