Current society is an information society. And the people's demand on information is as important as on air or water. By statistical data, almost 80 percent of informations that people used are related to "position". Not only the important activity like fieldwork, construction, army march, police duty and fire fighting are concerned with the positions of ourselves and the positons of destinations, but the regular things like outdoor shopping, traffic, visiting kith be as well. To meet the people's demand on getting position information at any time, anywhere for anybody of anything,a powerful and flexible mobile positioning system is necessary. The purpose of the paper is to develop a visualized spatial information application system based on J2ME mobile device by means of integrating the mobile computing technology and mobile map technology. At first, the system has the functions of displaying, query and analysis of spatial information. In addition, it is mobilable and enables users to enjoy Location-based Service at anytime and anywhere. At last, users of the system can customize information as their willingl so as to meet the requirements in different professional fields and working on different operation system. Based on the basic principles and theories of software engineering, the paper combines Java technology, global positioning technology, geographical information technology, GPRS wireless communication technology, embedded development technology, database and network technology into an integral system. The contents of the paper are: Summary and framework of Java mobile positioning system;Design of positioning server software based on J2EE technology;Design of mobile terminal software based on J2ME technology;Application of the system on goods transportation industry; The further study direction of the system.
