At present, automatic weather station is used for collecting meteorological data by meteorological departments as one of the main ways. Traditional data transfer mode has many disadvantages for the automatic weather station which is built in the complex area, cabling is complex and the cost is expensive.This paper expounds the characteristic of the technique about ZigBee and introduces the design about the wireless automatic weather station. It is composed by the hardware and the software two parts. The hardware uses the Jennie 5121 chip as the core component, has designed one kind of wireless sensor net for collecting meteorological data such as temperature, the humidity, the pressure, the rainfall, the wind direction and the wind speed. Each node transfers the data to the gateway with the ZigBee technology. The gateway sends it through the serial communication and GPRS to the position computer. Software parts include building the wireless net, controlling the sensor working, sending and receiving data.The facts indicate that the system of wireless automatic weather station can reduce the design cost, advance the work efficiency and gain the information exactly in time. It will be the develop trend of auto weather station. The wireless data transfer mode is low power and secure. So it is not only fit for the meteorological data transfer, but also can used in the domain of environment, transportation.
