Research On Comprehensive Regionalization Of Natural Disasters In Chongqing Based On GIS

Being situated in the subtropical monsoon climate area, Chongqing is greatly influenced by southwest monsoon and southeastern monsoon in turn. In summer Chongqing has precipitation and heat at the same period, and it has frequent storms as well. Meanwhile as Chongqing is controlled by subtropical high anticyclone, drought frequently occurs in summer and autumn. Mountains and hills are the dominant terrain, and Chongqing has a complex geological structure. It is also densely covered by many rivers and deep gullies. For the great population density and the increasing infrastructure construction in this area in recent years, humankinds are destroying natural environment more severely than ever. Therefore in Chonqing there are various natural disasters especially more flood disasters, geological disasters and drought disasters, which severely restrict the sustainable development of regional society, economy and environment of Chongqing.Based on the analysis of the natural and humane background, this dissertation analyses the distribution, characters, formation and development machanism of flood, drought and geological disasters in Chongqing from theangle of the system of natural disasters.By selecting assessment indices from environment of causing the disasters and natural causing disasters factors and disaster bodies according to natural disasters systematic theory, the map of natural environment sensitiveness to disasters, the map of natural hazards, and the vulnerability map of regional disaster bodies in Chongqing could be achieved by geographic information system analysing.Overlaying and analysing the map of natural environment sensitiveness to disasters, the map of natural hazards and the vulnerability map of disasters bodies by GIS, the basic units of natural disasters regionalization of Chongqing is achieved.After dealing with the attribute database of the map of natural disasters regionalization basic units, in the light of given regionalization principles, and by combinating with the dividing quantitative method of bottom-up and top-down, comprehensive regionalization of natural disasters has been made and four disasters regions have been achieved.Furthermore, in the end of the thesis, natural disasters, environment and social economy of every region are elaborated in detail.
