Study On Natural Disasters And Cortrolling And Reducing Disasters In Chongqing

Being situated in the subtropical monsoon climate area, Chongqing is greatly influenced by southwest monsoon and southeastern monsoon in turn. In summer Chongqing has precipitation and heat at the same period, and it has frequent storms as well. Meanwhile as Chongqing is controlled by subtropical high anticyclone, drought frequently occurs in summer and autumn. Mountains and hills are the dominant terrain, and Chongqing has a complex geological structure. It is also densely covered by many rivers and deep gullies. For the great population density and the increasing infrastructure construction in this area in recent years, natural environment is destroyed more severely than ever. Therefore in Chonqing there are various natural disasters especially more flood disasters, geological disasters and drought disasters, which severely restrict the sustainable development of regional society, economy and environment of Chongqing.Based on the analysis of the natural and humane background, from the angle of the system of natural disasters, the characters of natural disasters, and the distribution, characters, formation and development machanism of flood, drought and geological disasters were analysed in Chongqing. And by analysing the experience and deficiency in controlling and reducing disasters in the past in Chongqing, dissertation is dead against the fact of controlling and reducing disasters at present in Chongqing, and the guidelines, the principia, the primary aim, the primary tasks and the primary measures of the controlling and reducing disasters for future ten years are brought forward. And through this study, the system of controlling natural disasters which is consistent with societal and economic development can be established, and the comprehensive ability to control and reduce disasters can be improved in Chongqing. Furthermore, the safeguard system of the sustainable development of society and economy can be come into being, and the basic scientific foundation for controlling and reducing disasters can be offered in Chongqing.
