The structure character of fully mechanized caving coalface gate has been analyzed systematically, and strata behavior regularity of fully mechanized caving coalface gate has been disclosed. According to the Coulomb intensity rule, using theoretic analysis and numerical calculus, this paper has disclosed the mechanism and influence factors of roof separation of fully mechanized caving coalface gate. The form of roof fall caving and influence factors has been analyzed roundly. The mechanism of separation cavity has been explained from different points of view. Using the theories of combination girder, extrusion and block mechanics together, stability of separated roof coal has been analyzed. Influence of cranny in coal to roof stability has been analyzed with emphasis, and design method of roof separation measuring points, which should be set in virtue of the position and number of dangerous cranny, has been put forward in order to ensure the veracity of monitoring.
