With the development of world economy, the demand of garment and textile will tend to personality and diversification, which requests the traditional production system to transfer their production to variety and small batch. With the advent and the development of the textile printing technology, the demerits of the current printing production will be remedied considerably, because the time needed for the whole printing process will be greatly shorted and the quality of textile will be promoted, which will meet the demand of rapid production rhythm and quick response system in future in terms of small batch and variety of production.The researches on textile ink jet printing are mainly focused on the pre-treating process, the apparatus, the printing ink and software support. The printing speed of ink jet printer is more and more higher abroad, for example the highest speed has come to 150m/s(under the condition of 600dpi). Also many world famous dyestuff suppliers, such as Ciba, Basf, Dupont, Kodak, have developed acid, active, disperse, and pigment commercial ink.In our country, the technology is still on the start and there are three urgent problems: the first is the research of fiber sorts suitable for ink jet printing and the pre-treating process; the second is manufacture of high speed, stable, low-cost printing apparatus; the last is low cost ink with good stability.In this paper, two aspects of research has been conducted. The pre-treatment of silk fabrics for ink jet printing was researched and aqueous acid dye inks employed in textile ink jet printing on silk fabrics were investigated.As far as the fabric pre-treatment investigation was concerned, the paper firstly puts forward the two kinds of anti-bleeding, which apart engendered in ink-jet printing and steaming process. The factors which influenced the anti-bleeding ability of fabrics in the two stages were searched through experiment. As the evaluation of effect, the area of ink spot which designed by ourselves, K/S value and color fixation were measured and detected. Form the tested results the relationship between the printing effects of silk fabric and the variables mentioned above was discussed. Thepaper had tested several kinds of thickening agents, physical and chemical sorbent agents. Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) as thickening agent, poly-ethylene glycol as chemical absorbent, Alumina as physical absorbent, were chosen as pretreatment agents. Also the other auxiliary agents such as Ammonium sulfate, Urea were applied on fabric preparation for ink jet printing at the same time. The influence of fabric construction, ink, and pre-treating agent to anti-bleeding of silk fabrics was discussed and analyzed academically, which provided certain theory background for further research.Through orthogonal experiments and by comparison of the printing effects, the optimum pre-treatment process and formulation was determined: CMC 3.0%, PEG 1.5%, Alumina 10.0%, Ammonium sulfate 2.0%, Urea 3%, steaming time 25min(temperature 103 , relative humidity 103%).With respect to ink development, fastness to crocking, staining fastness to washing and stability of pink, blue, yellow, black, cyan ink (provided by another workmates) were tested. Through the comparison with commercial ink, the possibility of substitution was researched. From the results, except for the cyan ink the each fastness of the other ink has tiny difference with commercial ink and requirement of application has been basically satisfied; on the aspect of stability, although the cyan ink has poor stability under low temperature, the other four kinds of ink have excellent stability. Altogether the pink, blue, yellow, black ink have satisfied performance and it is valuable to continue the experiments for commerce to substitute the imported ink with great decreasing cost.
