In this paper, a monitoring and programming system of CNC turret punch press is established under Windows environment according to the production-oriented and customer-oriented principle.At the beginning of the paper, a high performance CNC system of turret punch press is studied, and the overall structure of the system is designed adopting IPC and dual CPU structure. As a integrated system, the monitoring and programming system is composed of three both independent and interrelated modulars for monitoring, graphical programming and tool management respectively.In order to overcome some disadvantages, such as long development cycle and unnecessary repeatability, the object models are abstracted and constructed, and a series of C++ classes with general-purpose are designed by using O-O technology. It is worth extending.The concrete design of the monitor and programming system is presented in detail. The monitoring system includes homing control, manual operation, automatic machining, simulation, system set-up, IO display, MDI control and communication, and the real-time multi-task control is achieved using the method of multi thread of Windows NT . In the development of graphical programming system, the complete founctions for file management, parameter set-up, automatic programming, graph editing and NC code converting are accomplished. The system uses the method of interactive graphical input, has abundant programming capabilities and realizes the optimization of tools. In addition, the capabilites of tool warehouse management, turret set-up and its management are also included in the tool management system.The test of the monitoring and programming system and the running of CNC system prove that the system has reached its design requirement. The system has a friendly user interface and complete functions, and it can be extended according to the practical requirement as to meet the industiral use.
