Nowadays, manufacturing enterprises in every country are faced with fierce competition in the global market. For superiority in competition, advanced manufacture technology is developed. Cutting tools are the key and foundation of advanced manufacture technology. In order to reduce the workload, shorten the design time and increase the design reliability, CAD technology is necessary to use in the design of complex cutting-tools.Generating process, shaving process and gear lapping with corundum process are used in the manufacture of car gears and tractor gears. The main function of preshaving hob is to process the preshaving gears, which complies with the requirements of shaving gears. Because of the especial requirement of gear form of preshaving hob, the design of preshaving hob is more complex than common gear hob. Manual calculation is used in the traditional design of preshaving hob, which is tested for many times according to the experiences of designers. The design method is inefficient, takes much time, and requires highly of designers, and can only design a preshaving hob every calculation.Based on the reasons above, the principles and methods of software engineering are followed in this paper, and the CAD system of preshaving hob is developed with the techniques of OOP, ODBC and ARX.The modular programming method is used in preshaving hob CAD system, which divides four modules of the whole system: user interface module, calculation module, graphic manipulation module and database system module. The combined programming technique of Visual C++6.0 and ObjectARX is used in the design of the user interface module. The parameters of preshaving hob areinputted and other design information of preshaving hob is chosen by users through the user interface, which realizes the man-machine communication. The main function of design and calculation module is to complete the complex calculation of design according to the design theory of preshaving hob. AutoCAD 2000 is used as the development flatform, and the combined programming technique of Visual C++6.0 and ObjectARX is used to compile the graphic programs of preshaving hob and realize the parameterization protraction of preshaving hob. Access 2000 is used as the form of tables to construct the database in the database management module, which is connected to the application program with the combination of Visual C++6.0 and ObjectARX and realizes the database management of preshaving hob. Each module has independent functions, and they communicate with each other by their interface.The study and development of preshaving hob CAD system realize the targets as follows: 1. the frame of CAD system of preshaving hob is set up, which settles the foundation for followers; 2. the convenient, friendly user interface of Windows style is established, which is easy to use and realizes the man-machine communication; 3. the optimization design of preshaving hob is realized with the powerful numerical calculation function of computer; 4. the engineering database subsystem of preshaving hob CAD system is set up, and the database management of design data of preshaving hob is realized.With the preshaving hob CAD system, the design level, quality and efficiency of preshaving hob design can be improved, the competition power of new products can be enhanced, which settles the foundation for the producing-modemization of cutting-tools and has high usage value and wide application prospect.Cutting-tools CAD;Preshaving hob;OOP;ObjectARX; Database Management...
