Sulfonamides are widely used in veterinary medicine as therapeutic, prophylactic, or growth-promoting agents. The use of these compounds is regulated because of the concerns about its possible effect on human health. Therefore, the determination of their residues in water, meat and other animal by -products (milk and egg) used for human consumption is an important task.Three new liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry methods were developed for the determination of seventeen commolonly used sulfonamides in pork, chicken, egg, milk, and water. Stable isotope compound 13C6-sulfamethazine was used as internal standard. Multiple-reaction monitoring (MRM) was employed for quantitative analysis. The LC separation was performed on a Waters Xterra MS?C8(150mmol × 2.0mmol i.d.) with a gradient elution system of 2.5mmol/Lammolonium formate and 0.1%formic acid -methanol (containing 2.5mmol/Lammolonium formate and 0.1%formic acid) as the mobile phase at the flow rate of 0.2mL/min. Satisfactory linearity, 0.10 -200ng/mL, of each compound was obtained in the method. Intraday (2.5%-4.6%) and interday variations (3.1%-7.4%) of the method were all with acceptable ranges.A liquid-liquid extraction and Sep-Pak? silica clean-up procedure was developed for pork tissues and chicken sample preparation. Recoveries were ranged from 52.4% to 123% for all compounds at three different spiked levels and the limit of detections...
