With numerical analysis method, according to color theory and printing technology, a series of problems for color management in newspaper printing were studied. In addition , the consistency of color image were disclosed on both screen and proof .The above were important to clarify the physical mechanism of newspaper color displaying and disclose the copy transition rule from screen to proof.The main works: Designed and made a color target for newspaper color management; Proved the gamut of coloration for color target, and analyzed the reason of color difference; Set up a mathematic model between digital color target and proof by comparing both; Evaluated the color quality of newspaper printing ink and analyzed newspaper printing characteristic curve..The results indicates: The color target was fit for newspaper printing; The function relation of L*, a*, and b* both on digital color target and on proof was established and proved non-linear; The color quality of newspaper printing ink indicated that designed color target could be used widely; Obtained newspaper printing characteristic parameters and the curve.The application of major results in practice will not only advance the newspaper print quality, but also accelerate print speed. All of these can promote a newspaper printing digital and standardization management gradually. Moreover the results provided the foundation for newspaper printing color management and established a credible base for the use of color management in print enterprises. In conclusion, this research work is helpful for advancing color management digital and standardization, and will be promote print technology development both in theory and in practice.
