Fin's pipe is widely applied to industry of heat exchange in modern times. Setting the method of the machining technic, cutting-extruding technology,to fin's paper as a target and using the software of the finite element method (FEM) Deform-3D, a machining model of fin was built and the whole process of machining was simulated in this paper, on the basis of research on the theory of the cutting-extruding technology and FEM.Based on the analysis to the process of practical fin's machining, a three-dimensional FEM's analysis model was built and the cutting-extruding process was simulated. The analysis to the fields of stress, strain and temperature in the machining process are obtained. The isolines of stress and strain are laying out. That parameters of tool affect the size of fin was observed. It probed into the rule in fin's shaping under different geometrical parameters of cutting.The varying law of cutting force in the process of fin's shaping was researched. The results under different parameters of cutting and other laws of varying are obtained. It provides the reference to the shape of fin, design of tool and clamp.Using the tool with special angle and structure, a machining of fin's experiment on cutting-extruding technology to fin's pipe was researched on the lathe of CA6140 in the laboratory. Finding out the relationship between the technic parameters and the sizes of fin, comparing them with results of simulation, it found that the similar results can obtain between the simulation and experiment. Try to find out the reason of difference between them. Meanwhile, the result from simulation can guide the experiment effectively.Using the language of Visual c++, a visual and integrative system of cutting was developed. It combined with the programming of FORTRAN to realize the machining of cutting-extruding,orthogonal cutting, the calculation of data, processing of data and displaying of result under different cutting parameters. The system is stable and convenient to operate.
