PTT(polytrimethylene erephthalate) is one of the noticeable polymer materials in the world. Due to its excellent hand and elasticity from its unique molecular structure, PTT is more appropriate for being blended with wool and other natural fibers than PET. In the development of worsted, PTT is used to be blended, interwoven or compound spinned with wool to improve the elasticity of worsted and to meet the demand of people. This is a direction of broadening thinking of worsted design.Based on the study of PTT cotton interwoven fabrics and PTT filament fabrics, my research was designed to develope worsted fabrics woven with PTT staple fibers, PTT filaments and PTT/PET bicomponent filaments. The testing and analysis work have been done as follows:1. Tensile test of PTT staple fibers was conducted and was compared with the PET fibers. Tensile and elastic recovery properties of PTT and PTT/PET multifilament yarns were tesed and then compared with PET filament yarns.2. According to the properties of materials, commingled PTT/wool yarns and PTT worsted fabrics were developed with the help of the factories. Then the optimization of the producing arts and crafts was chosen.3. After tensile test, elastic recovery test, crease recovery test of fabrics, and dates analysis, we got conclusions as follows: There were two key factors influencing the elasticity of fabrics. And they were materials what we used and finishing process. Furthermore, designed warp tightness, length of the float and designed weft tightness also had profound effects on the fabric elasticity.4. Some research was done on the fabric viscoelasticity. The fabric stress relaxation was simulated by using the three elements mechanical model. Inverse relaxation in six kinds of fabrics had been observed. At different retraction levels, the IR index value was increased from negative at the beginning to positive, and then decreased to zero from the maximum value.5. The fuzzing and pilling properties of the fabrics were tested and studied. The anti-pilling properties of PTT/wool worsted were superior to those of PET/wool worsted. This indicated that PTT fibers were suitable for anti-pilling fabrics.
