In the visualized and interactive environment of virtual assembly, the designer can manipulate the parts and plan the assembly process with the product model in various apperceive way. So it can fully make use of the creativity and the experience of human to optimize the assembly planning process and inspect the assembility. This dissertation studied several key technology of Virtual Assembly System and accomplished the prototype system development. The main contents of this paper are presented as follows:The first, the design object, main functions and output of visualized and interactive assembly system were studied. The develop solution based on VR platform was discussed.The second, several key technologies of Virtual Assembly such as construction of virtual assembly environment, assembly modeling, virtual object manipulation, collision detection, interactive assembly planning are studied and solutions are given. We built the assembly model in solidworks and imported the model in to the VE with the Eon model import interface;by mechanism of events and routes we accomplished the object interaction;with the ConvexCollision node and ConvexCollisionManager node we can guarantee the validity of assembly path;we logged the assembly information in the chainlist.The third, we made much detailed study on assembly process plan and assembly simulation in this paper. The paper discuss the basic mathematics principle of assembly simulation and presented the design idea of assembly simulation and it's implementing process, including assembly sequence, constraints of part's disassembly movement process, assembly process simulation and so on. We planed the assembly based on the disassembly method as well as interactive and visualized technology, and then using the output of the system as the input of the simulation module to simulate theassembly process. It can give the user an intuitionistic view to inspect the assembility with the assembly sequence and assembly path which specified by the user.Finally, on the platform of VC++6.0(MFC), Eon Studio 5.0 and Windows XP, The prototype of visualized and interactive assembly in the virtual environment system was accomplished. This system can implement several representative functions of VA such as disassemble of parts, collision detection and so on. This system can use for assembly simulation, assembly planning, assembly training in the product development process.
