As the rapid devolepment of Personal-Computer, its reliability has been mostly improved while the prices have greatly fall off. The control system with the core of industial PC has been widely used in industrial field. In this paper, the HS-WEDM(High Speed Wire Electrical Discharge Machining)control system with general use of PC has been introduced. The new PC standard has greatly got rid of ISA Bus, which makes the incapable use of former ISA Card and the corresponding software control system. The paper puts forward with an economic approach to inherit the old ISA technology. It reduces the amount of work from ISA to PCI, and considers the cost and economy of produce. Namely, it makes the motion control card work under the Windows 2000 based on PCI bus but not under the DOS environment based on ISA by the use of CH365 card to upgrade the ISA control card.When it comes to the design of HS-WEDM control system, the Upper-and-Nether Computer communication mode is adopted to realize the master-slave control. The higher Real-time motion control is completed on subordinary computer with Real-time control circuit composed partly with SCM and the supervisory control is finished on the master computer, which enhances the reliability of control system. Meanwhile, it can make full use of rich software resources based on Windows OS to design control system of friendly hunman-computer interaction interface.
