WEDM has advantages of no cutting force and little effect on processability, which caused by the workpeice material's hardness, therefore, it is suitable for various materials, complex surface and fine, precise, thin-walled and low stiffness parts, and the application is very wide. As improving of manufacturing technology, high precession and efficiency of WEDM is needed. Therefore, study on the WEDM of high added value and strong applied CNC control system to improve the market competitiveness is imperative. At present, the control system of low-end WEDM machine tool is based on single CPU. The controller which based on the single CPU use DOS system as operating system, the controller is not open, the driver software has to self-developed. It is difficult to develop remote monitoring, diagnosis and repair, moreover, the coupling of software is very strong, so the development of automatic function such as open man-machine interface and intelligent machining is very difficult. Based on the above purpose, the main work and research results of this paper are as follows:1. Developed the opening CNC control system of multiple CPU: using a PC computer as central control system and developed the electric control system based on DSP. It is beneficial to modularization and refines division of WEDM software. The electric control system that based on DSP can satisfy the requirement of instant control of WEDM.2. Developed the opening human-machine interface module which based on Windows and machine logic control module and movement control module which based on DSP. The control system is developed as open architecture, it is convenient for the control system to increase function, remote control and intelligent.3. Using this control system, fast wire cutting experiment of WEDM processing was carried out on the DK7725 WEDM machine tool which is made by HangZhou wireless special equipment factory. These results showed that: this control system's output circuit signal is stable, can significantly increased the surface quality of workpiece. This control system can be effectively applied to WEDM machine tool, and promote the automation and machining accuracy of machine tool.
