High-speed and high-efficiency grinding, because of its higher productive efficiency, better surface finishing than general grinding, is the current trend of grinding technology in the 21 century. But, the specific grinding energy is very high, and most of the energy will flow into the workpiece, which will make temperature of the grinding zone go up. When the temperature is very high, the metallurgical structure of the workpiece will change, it can even indicate thermal damage and grinding crackle. So, it has very important and realistic meaning to research grinding temperature and to explore the thermal principle and to control the grinding surface in a good condition.First, based on the literature reviews, the history and current situation of ultra high-speed and high-efficiency grinding temperature technology are summarized. This thesis puts forward the overview of grinding temperature theory, as well as the train of thought for studying it. The thesis comprehensively introduces the scheme for the experimental study in high-speed and high-efficiency grinding temperature testing.Then, based on the experiments of two different materials (45#carbon steel, 40Cr alloy steel) operated on the 314m/s super high speed surface grinding machine in Hunan University, the high speed grinding temperatures are studied in detail in the method of thermocouple. The effects of grinding parameters such as wheel velocity, grinding depth of grinding wheel, workpiece velocity on grinding temperature have been analyzed. We find that in the condition that keep the other two parameters constant, the grinding temperature goes up and then goes down when the wheel velocity goes up; it goes up when the grinding depth of grinding wheel goes deeper; it goes down when the workpiece velocity goes up.Because it is difficulty to get a precise model of grinding, it is difficult to have the simulation and control of grinding process. In this thesis this article use temperature model of the high efficiency deep grinding (HEDG) to calculate the theoretical amount. The grinding temperatures are also predicted based on the finite element software Ansys at last. It turns out that it can even substitute for experiments partly because of its high precision and with sufficient nodes to perfect the Ansys model, the prediction can reach a higher precision of prediction.
