The System Of Discharge Standards Of Pollutants For Pharmaceutical Industry And A Case Study

In recent years, the environmental management of pharmaceutical industry did not catch up its rapid growth, and the discharge standard for this industry is still not established. According to this status, based on the deep research of national or foreign standards related with pharmaceutical industry and analysis of national pharmaceutical industry, this paper proposes scientific standard system of discharge standards of pollutants for pharmaceutical industry, and studies the establishment of the discharge standard for Chinese traditional medicine as a case. The results of the paper will be of practical use.The paper investigates foreign standards related with pharmaceutical industry. The standard of USA was more comprehensive, of which classification was based on the production process and product type, of which establishment was based on technologies, and for which economy analysis and benefit appraisal were done; World Bank Group stipulated for discharge guidelines of wastewater and waste air from pharmaceutical industry; EU established discharge requirements for volatile organic compounds from pharmaceutical industry.Based on production process and pollution characteristic of phatmaceutical industry, this paper creatively proposes our standard system for pharmaceutical industry, six subcategories of the standard: Fermentation, Extraction, Chemical Synthesis, Chinese Traditional Medicine, Biological Engineering, and Mixing and Formulating. The paper proposes the system of control factors for every subcategory.
