The Research Of Safety Culture In Construction Enterprises

The main cause of accidents is people's unsafe behavior. Improving people's unsafe behavior can prevent the accidents. People's safety-related behavior is affected by cultural factors like safety-related values, knowledge, attitudes to work, personalities, psychologies and environments etc. It is the effective way of improving people's safety-related behavior to develop safety culture in the enterprises and also the effective measure of heightening the level of safety management. The research on safety culture of enterprises has achieved some result. But there are many to be studied on the application of safety culture in construction industries. Accordingly, this paper discusses the safety culture of construction enterprises by qualitative and quantitative method.The theory of safety culture is reviewed firstly. Based on this, the safety culture of construction enterprises is divided into four levels. They are safety material culture, safety institution culture, safety behavior culture and safety attitudes culture. At the same time, how to develop safety culture in construction enterprises is discussed from these four levels. The four levels of safety culture are an organic entirety. The goal of developing safety culture cannot be achieved if any level is ignored. Measurement is one of the most important steps. Through the measurement of safety culture, the construction enterprises can predict the direction of safety culture well and truly. This is helpful to safety management and developing of safety culture and it can also advance the level of safety management. For making the measurement of safety culture in construction enterprises more scientific, this paper suggests a series of quantitative criterions. And combining the theory of extension measurement, the multi-level extension measurement model of safety culture in construction enterprises is advanced. The application of extension measurement in safety culture has the practical meanings to the persons of measurement.
