Nowadays, imformalization and globalization are becoming the important trend formanufacture. CAD as the 3D technology is becoming more and more popular for theenterprises. As the development of electronics, light industry and automobile, thedemand for stamping products is increased and also the standard of quality is higher.Stamping process is the critical part of stamping design, so we need to pay moreattention to the stamping process planning. Because of this practical demand, relativetheory and methods of stamping process are studied in this paper based onknowledge.Firstly, in this paper, the whole process of stamping design is analyzed. The structureof the stamping process system is introduced. At the same time, the function of everypart is analyzed concretely.Secondly, the two critical technologies of stamping process: layout of blank and thearrangement of steps are lucubrated in this paper:In order to increase the material utility ratio, precision of layout and the efficiency ofprocess, a new range box-based algorithm for optimal blank layout is introducedbased on the studies of traditional algorithm.To make full use of knowledge in the step arrangement and improve the intelligenceof system, the management of rules and the means of reasoning are studied in thispaper.Finally, the knowledge-based stamping process system is developed. An example oftypical bend part is introduced, which proves the feasibility of the study onknowledge-based stamping process planning.
