The printing quality is decided by the inking system which is one of the most important parts of offset press. Computer simulation was adopted in researching and analyzing the inking system of offset press in this paper. A simulation model of inking system was established with undirected graph theory, and a simulation software on the inking system of offset press was programmed with the viewable interface of C++ Builder application, so that the various inking systems in different presses were built up and recognized. The study also raised the possibilities of designing new types of inking system and analyzing the characteristics statically and dynamically. The main contents and innovations are as follows:(1)This software was programmed based on C++ Builder, and the attribute structure of inking roller was defined to record the main characters of the rollers. Making use of the graph theory, the whole inking system was treated as a complicated undirected graph in this article. Establishing the network relations of inking system, and it was convenient to build up the adjacency multilist to store them in the memory.(2) After discretizing the surface of the rollers, two-dimensional arrays were established dynamically in the computer to record the ink film thickness. And the contact point should be treated as the main object to study the transfer of ink in this research.(3) Dynamic simulation analysis on the inking system of J2108 was carried out, and the experiment about response time and settle time was finished as the same time. The result of the experiment proved the validity of the dynamic simulation software. Then the simulation experiment was carried out on Heidelberg SM52 offset press, and the static behavior and the dynamic behavior was studied and analyzed by computer simulation. The vibration characteristics of the vibrators and their effects on the steady state of the inking system were extensively studied. And the oscillation rate and stroke length were used as control variable.It has been proved that it is easy and efficient for optimum design of inking system and dynamic simulation analysis in the simulation system, and it's own database of inking system could establish in it. It is convenient for designers on inking system to call library for reference at any moment.
