The automobile panel die is charactered by high precision, complex shape, large size and high requirements of compatibility. It's an important issue confronted by Chinese auto industry how to enhance the quality and efficiency of automobile panel dies design&manufacture. With the development of CAD, especially the application of CAD/CAM into mould production has become an effective approach to solve this problem.The project which researchs and develops a system applied to automobile panel die design is large and complex. However, to complete the development based on a commercial CAD/CAM software is an easier way, which can reduce the investment and take effect quickly. In this thesis, the CAD of drawing die module for automobile panel based on UG software was researched.By syudy the method and technology of UG secondary development, the intact implementing scheme was obtained, such as the application program interface of UG NX based on Visual C++ technology, the design and application of the main menu by UG/Open Menuscript, accomplished the design of UG style interface, which relates to the user-defined menu of the module by UG/Open UIStyler, model data calling and operation by UG/Open API and so on.According to the requirements of the automobile panel dies design, setting up the overall architecture of the module and the partition functional module was finished. Meanwhile, the system flow and data stream based on the software engineering technology was established.Multifold fast design theory and many factors which affect the design efficiency of automobile panel dies were researched. The method of develop automobile panel dies design module based on UG was put forward on basis of the upper work. As an example, a kind of single-motion stretching die was studied. We analyzed the multiform kind of structure, concluded the structure-design process of single-motion stretching die, and used top-down-assembly and parametric-feature-modeling method to establish the detailed die structure. Meanwhile, the programming of corresponding modules was developed. A systematic summary of methods of establishing standardized parts library based on UG, and the library of standardized parts and standardized structure parts was established, the rapid calling of standardized parts were achieved, the module has been implemented on UG platform.
