The mold design level of auto panels at certain degree determines the quality of the auto panels, automobile performance and appearance, and the auto panel's process design has a direct relation to the mold design quality. At present, the auto panel's process design is now mainly carried out by combination method of designer's experience and computer calculation, which meets the demands from the present industry manufactures, but the long design period, low efficiency, unsatisfied design quality should not be neglected. So the application of CAD/CAE/CAM is the only way out for auto panel industry and it is of great feasibility and theoretical value to develop a specified function module for auto panel mold under the wide-applied software in auto industry.The Drawing direction choosing, the design of Addendum, Blankholding surface and Draw bead etc. are mainly studied in this thesis, process design function module of auto panels, which is embedded in UG software, is developed by UG/Open API and VC++. The main research content in this thesis is as follows:(1) The method and technology of UG secondary development are studied, the intact implementing scheme was obtained, such as the application program interface of UG NX based on Visual C++6 technology, the design and application of the main menu by UG/Open Menuscript too, visual design and application of the dialog box by UG/Open UIStyler, calling and realizing to model data of UG Open API, and etc..(2) The basic principles of the deep direction of drawing have been summarized. The mathematic model for optimizing the drawing direction, the feasible zone of the drawing direction and the evaluation function of drawing direction has been established. Based on the analysis on the drawing direction optimization method under UG environment, the drawing direction software module under the UG environment was developed, as well a corresponding example is introduced in this thesis.(3) The addendum of auto panels was researched. The common sectional line of addendum was analyzed, and its mathematic model has been established as well as parametric design. The trial design that sectional line and control lines create the addendum was achieved, and then takes a auto top cover as example to introduce the operation of this function module.(4) The principle and method of utilizing existing sectional line and control line to establish the draw bead were studied. The classification of draw beads is introduced.
