4300 rolling mill is one of important equipments for producing steel plate. The housing of 4300 rolling mill is the main part of all. The strength and stiffness of the 4300 rolling mill housing is analyzed by using finite element method (FEM) in this article. The value of strength and stiffness of the 4300 rolling mill housing is calculated under maximum rolling force and three actual rolling forces. Moreover, each order natural frequency and main vibration modes of the 4300 rolling mill housing are found by FEM method.Firstly, a three-dimensional finite element model is found by means of ANSYS10.0. under maximum rolling force and the stress and deformation distribution law and the deformation and stress of each node and unit of the 4300 rolling mill housing are carried out.Secondly, the stresses of the 4300 rolling mill housing are measured and the accuracy and rationality of FEM analysis are verified by comparing the values of measurement to those of theory calculation.Finally, the modal analysis of the 4300 rolling mill housing are done with ANSYS10.0 and each order natural frequency and main vibration mode of the 4300 rolling mill housing are found. The natural frequency and the values of main vibration modes which have maximum influences on housing are obtained.The results of this article supply the basis for understanding the working state, maintenance and design of the 4300 rolling mill housing.
