With the rapid development and application of laser technology in each field, laser crystal plays a more and more important role. In this paper, the growth and spectrum performance of KYbW and Er:KYbW two type new laser crystals have been studied.K2W2O7 can be used as flux, Crystals have been grown by Top Seeded Solvent Growth(TSSG).The proper technological parameters have been designed in order to obtained high optical quality KYbW and Er:KYbW crystals.KYbW and Er:KYbW crystals structures were analyzed by XRD, they belong to monoclinic system with space group C2/c, and cell parameters of the crystal was calculated. The infrared spectrum and Raman spectrum of crystal were measured. The vibration modes was analysed and vibrational frequencies of vibratory activity was assigned.The absorption spectrum and fluorescence spectrum of KYbW and Er:KYbW were measured.The absorption cross section of KYbW at 981nm was calculated as 1.11×10-19cm2. The emission wavelength of fluorescence was 1 007nm and 1 037nm, and the emission line-width at the chief peak 1 037nm run up to 13nm, so KYbW was an excellent gain medium for tunable laser. The emission cross section at 1 037nm was calculated as 3.4×10-20cm2. And the absorption cross section of Er:KYbW was 3.1×10-20cm2 at main peak 981nm. Fluorescence spectrum of the crystal was measured by excitation source with 980nm respectively, and the lifetime was 4.6ms at 1 540nm. At the same time, the green luminescence of Er:KYbW have been introduced in brief.
