Bevel gear is a kind of complex gear. It has been widely used in modern mechanical power transmission system due to its ability to transfer power between two intersection shaft and uniform loads, smooth drive, small vibration, low noise etc.With the continuous improvement of modern gear processing requirements of precision control, there is an increasing demand for bevel gear tooth surface geometry and accuracy measurement.As special measuring machine for bevel gear deviations is not availabe in domestic market, a CNC bevel gear deviations measuring machine was developed based on the analysis of the measuring principle of bevel gear deviations. The main work is as below:(1) The methods of bevel gear deviations measurement and the characteristics of bevel gear deviations measurement instruments were summarized. The bevel gear deviations measuring principle was determined.(2) The working principle of the bevel gear deviations measurement instrument was determined according to the measuring principle. The designing technical specifications and scheme were proposed.(3) A CNC bevel gear deviations measuring instrument prototype which included a mechanical mainframe, a CNC system and a signal sampling and processing system was developed.(4) A set of measuring and control software which realized the function of automatic measurement was developed based on the automatic measurement model of the CNC system.The experimental results verified the feasibility of the proposed measuring principle and the high efficiency and reliability of the prototype of bevel gear deviations measuring instrument.
