Organotin(IV) complexes are widely used as biocides, coating for ships, heat stabilizer for PVC plastic and homogenenous catalyst in organic reaction. Organotin(IV) complexes of Schiff bases have extentively bioactivity activities, especially anti–tumour activity, so its have recently increased attention. In this paper, two series of heterocyclic organotin(Ⅳ) Schiff base complexes have been synthesized. Their have been screened for their antibacterial activity.1. Ten novel thiocarbohydrozide Schiff bases have been synthesized by the reaction of benzaldehyde, 2-chlorobenzaldehyde,4-chlorobenzaldehyde, 2,4-dichloro- benzaldehyde, 3-bromobenzaldehyde, 4-methoxybenzaldehyde, 3-nitrobenzaldehyde, acetophenone, 3-nitroacetophenone and 4-methroxyacetophenone with thiocarbohy- drozide in mixed solvent by 2:1. Their structures were characterized.2. Twenty novel heterocyclic organotin(Ⅳ) Schiff base complexes have been synthesized by the reaction of di- and tribenzyltin chloride with the thiocarbohydrozide Schiff bases in anhydrous methanol. Their structures were characterized.3. Ten novel thiocarbohydrozide Schiff bases have been synthesized by the reaction of benzaldehyde, 2-chlorobenzaldehyde, 4-chlorobenzaldehyde, 2,4-dichloro- benzaldehyde, 3-bromobenzaldehyde, 4-methoxybenzaldehyde, 3-nitrobenzaldehyde, acetophenone, 3-nitroacetophenone and 4-methroxyacetophenone with thiocarbohy- drozide in mixed solvent by 1:1. Their structures were characterized .4. Nine novel heterocyclic pentcoordinate organotin(Ⅳ) Schiff base complexes have been synthesized by the reaction of dibenzyltin, diphenyltin dichloride and di–n–butyltin dichloride with the p-aminobenzoic acid Schiff bases in anhydrous methanol. Their structures were characterized.5. The antibacracterial and antitumour activities of the objective compounds were determined. The relationships between the bioactivities and the structures of the organotin compounds were also been studied.
