Phase relations in the La-Fe-Ge ternary system at 773K and La-Fe-Sn ternary system at 773K have been investigated in this work.The main contents of them were related as followed:1.The isothermal section of La-Fe-Ge ternary system at 773KThe isothermal section of the phase diagram of the La-Fe-Ge ternary system at 773K was investigated by X-ray powder diffraction(XRD)and differential thermal analysis(DTA).The existences of 12 binary compounds, La3Ge,La5Ge3,La4Ge3,La5Ge4,LaGe,La2Ge3,LaGe2-x,Fe3Ge,Fe5Ge3, Fe6Ge5,FeGe,FeGe2,were confirmed.Three ternary compounds LaFe2Ge2, LaFe0.6Ge2 and LaFeGe3 were confirmed too.Ge in Fe,LaGe,LaGe2-xand Fe5Ge3 and Fe in LaFe0.6Ge2 have solid solution phenomenon.This section consists of 18 single-phase regions,36 two-phase regions,and 19 three-phase regions.2.The isothermal section of La-Fe-Sn ternary system at 773KPhase relations in the La-Fe-Sn ternary system at 773K have been investigated by means of powder X-ray diffraction technique.This section consists of 13 single-phase regions,23 two-phase regions,and 13 three-phase regions.Two ternary compounds,which have been reported, La6Fe13Sn and La3FeSn6 have also been confirmed to exist in our work.we found the Fe has a solid soluble region in LaFexSn2.The solid solubility which was determined by the method of vanishment of phase is about x=0.3-0.4.
