Optimized drilling technology is the classical one that every product designer pursues. It is the requisite part to make the drilling engineering scientific and modernized. Whereas, drilling engineering is a complex system because of the plentiful uncertained random information which occures during the process. It is imperious to introduce the scientific optimization method and theory to solve the multi-functional problem, which has many evaluation indexes and multivariant influence parameters. The problem presents because of the complexity and uncertainty of the oil and gas drilling engineering. In this paper, an optimization method based on Case-Based Reasoning is provided to solve the optimization problem in the engineering and conquer the limitation of the conventional method. The method is divided into three parts. Firstly, the database of drilling parameters of the natural gas wells in Xujiaweizi is established. Secondly, the drilling parameters optimization model is set up according to the example reasoning theory. Finally, the drilling parameters optimization research is carried on to gain the material optimization results, which are carefully analyzed. The drilling parameters optimization method based on the example reasoning theory makes the drilling engineering and example reasoning integrate well. The method is a very meaningful attempt to solve the uncertainty in the drilling field, also, it makes the application of the example reasoning better and provides a bran-new research method to optimize the drilling parameters. The drilling parameters optimization has significant meaning in the academic study and engineering application.
