The fast development of iron-smelting industry has resulted in the shortage of raw material for pellets as well as the sharp increase of raw material and the cost of iron-smelting. How to improve the utilization ratio of local iron resources and how to optimize the raw material structure and improve the product quality as well as reduce the cost has become the important research field of iron-smelting industry.At present, the quality of shaft pellets in Xuanhua Iron and Steel Corporation needs to be improved. Xuanhua neighborhood is rich in iron ore resources with more half self-fluxed iron ore and high silicon hematite. By taking advantage of these local resources, can the shortage problem of pellets raw material in Xuanhua Iron and Steel Corporation be solved and at the same time the pellets ore quality be improved? By a large number of pellets experiments, the impact of bentonite and half self-fluxed iron ore on pellets ore quality as well as the feasibility of India hematite and Xuanhua local hematite to replace bentonite has been studied systematically. The logical process parameter has been put forward. The results show that:On the premises of the same amount of bentonite, the strength of pellets which added the sodium bentonite is better than the pellets which added the calcium bentonite, but the burst temperature is lower.The quality of pellets will be improved which added half self-fluxed iron ore. The appropriate roasting temperature is 1240℃. Taking the purity,strength and metallurgic performance of pellets into consideration, the proportion of half self-fluxed iron ore should be controlled around 15%.India hematite can replace bentonite entirely. The roasting temperature should be increased 60℃. Taking the purity of pellets into consideration, the content of local hematite should not be too high, and the proportion is 10%, the proportion of bentonite is 1.6%.The compound of raw material is 75% Jinbeizhuang iron ore, 15% half self-fluxed iron ore and 10% local hematite. When the content of bentonite is 1.6%, the strength and metallurgic performance of the pellets is better which has reached the high grade of pellets . The roasting temperature is 1240℃, and the logical material granularity is -0.074mm grade reaching 80%.
