Studying on environmental risk assessment (ERA) and grad method for major hazard installations is to supervise and manage major hazardous sources. It is the basement of application. Identification of major hazardous sources (GB18218-2000) has ever been very helpful for the work of identification and assessment of major hazardous sources. But, more and more different kinds of materials appear with the development of economy and technology. So do them quantity. Therefore, the standard is no longer enough for identification and assessment. Meanwhile, there are several kinds of standards for grade of major hazardous sources. But they all have some disadvantages and not fit for application. Because of that, the work of identification and assessment for major hazardous sources can not carry on deeply.First, Identification of major hazardous sources (GB18218-2000) is analyzed. And the definition of chemical industrial major hazardous sources is given. The disadvantages of commonly used ranking methods are discussed. Because the factors which can affect the major hazardous sources are complicate and many input or output is expressed fuzzily. It is more reasonable to use Fuzzy Comprehension Evaluation for major hazardous sources, ERA and grade. But Fuzzy Comprehension Evaluation involves the determination of weighs. And the calculation is complicate. Hence, a new method called Expert Supporting Fuzzy Hierarchy Comprehension Evaluation (ESFHCE) is proposed based on Expert Supporting Degree, Optimal Theory of Transfer Matrix, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy Comprehension Evaluation.Second, based on existing research of major hazardous sources, chemical industrial risk feature, the indexes system of hazardous degree of major hazardous sources is built by using qualitative method, quantitative method. The system involves inherent risk and safety compensating. Then, the paper chooses 11 major hazardous factors as subject and uses ESFHCE to calculate the weigh of every factor. The rank of major hazardous sources is concluded.Finally, DaGuShan chemical industrial park is studied by ESFHCE. The conclusion proves the effectiveness of the method. The method is scientific and effective.
