In the whole process of mining enterprises production, tailing pond play an important role. In case of happening serious safety accident on tailing pond, it will be caused huge property losses and people casualty. Therefore, it is urgent to strengthen the study of the stability of tailing pond, establish the accident prediction model of tailing pond. It is very important to control it in the bud condition so as to ensure its safety operation.Firstly, give a brief description about the tailing pond safety status, and point out it should give more attention on tailing pond safety problems. Secondly, put up the theoretical and practical significance of using SPSS software for tailing dam accident analysis on the basis of introducing current situations from the domestic and abroad as well as presenting the SPSS statistical analysis software features. In addition, preliminary analyze the direct and indirect reasons of the tailing pond accidents by analyzing some cases.At the basis of the analysis on the reasons, based on the SPSS statistical analysis software features, investigations and studies on the tailing dam in the case of access to data extraction and classification codes, to identify the relevant factor and regression analysis. Tailing dam to find the ultimate goal of the various factors inherent in contact, easy set up of the tailing dam accident model, which can be the initial tailing dam prediction risk of accidents.Make proposals and put up new methods on prevention tailing dam accident and research. It plays a positive role on reduce accidents as well as protect property and people's safety. The thesis put forward fairly good thinking and means on analyzing tailing pond accidents. It lay a solid foundation on the further research.
