DRAs (drag reducing agents) are the chemical additives to reduce liquid flow friction and to increase flow rate. They are divided to be water base DRAs and oil base DRAs according to different using objects. DRAs used in crude oil and other correlative products are named oil base DRAs . Drag reduction agent in oil fluids is a sort of chemical additive widely used in pipeline transportation of crude oil and product oil, and can greatly improve the efficiency of oil transfer and bring about enormous economic benefits by the addition of small amounts of certain polymers. The addition of drag reduction agent improves transport capacity greatly, reduces transport cost, makes flexible transport of oil possible and reduces bearing pressure of old pipeline in constant flow quantity.At present drag reduction agent mainly used is linear chain copolymerized alkenes DRA(a-olefin polymerization). It's one of the most application as well as best efficiency and has characteristic of high molecular weight (beyond 1000,000),good oil dissolving as well as high drag reduction ability.There were a lot of shortcomings in the application process of linear chain copolymerized alkenes DRA.When the drag reduction through the channels of high-turbulent region, its polymer covalent bond will be cut off into a drag-reducing effects or no bad effects of the DRA Low-molecular-weight polymers, leading to drag reduction rate dropped significantly, known as shear degradation. In order to maintain the pipeline in the whole of the high-drag reduction rate, must be adopted in each region after the injection of high shear and drag reduction agent.In this paper, a new kind of anti-shearing drag reducing agent was synthesized. The synthesis method, effect of initiator on the monomer conversion, drag reducing rate of associating DRA and anti-shearing performance were researched. The result showed that the synthesis process had the advantages of simple operation and mild reaction conditions. The synthesized DRA showed better anti-shearing performance than linear chain copolymerized alkenes DRA. The drag reducing efficiency increased with adding of the synthesized DRA and the increasing trend became slower. With concentration increasing, drag reducing efficiency curve of the sheared additives became similar to the unsheared one.Fourier transform infrared spectrometry was employed to analyze several brands of drag-reduction agents. Consequently, the fundamental structures of the polymer contained were determined.
