As an effective and economic way, it is becoming increasingly significant to transport crude oil and refined oil by pipe-line, especially in modern years. With the rapid request for the energy, transportation of more oil in limited pipe-line decreases not only the cost of transportation, but also the equipment investment. High molecular polymer as drag reduction agents (DRA), which can reduce the transfer's friction drag and improve the transportation ability of pipeline, is just the chemical additive. In this paper, first of all, we briefly introduce the drag-reducing polymer's development, synthesis mechanism ofα-olefin polymerization, the drag reduction mechanism, and DRA performance evaluation. What's more, study method of non-Newtonian fluid and its property have been discussed. In the second part, on the one hand, we focus on the oils'rheological properties which drag reduction agents dissolve in. Based on a large number of experiments, the influence of DRA in three oils'on their rheological properties has been studied. Lastly, the drag reduction mechanism of the oil-soluble drag reduction agent is briefly investigated. On the other hand, the synthesis technology of the oil-soluble drag reduction agent is developed and the effect of catalyst dosage, reaction temperature and reaction time on the polymerization of DRA's drag reduction is also studied. The drag reducing efficiency is measured by drag reducing test in circle conduit. Finally, the optimized conditions ofα-olefin bulk polymerization are obtained, and the experiment results show that drag reduction agent, whose efficiency is 40%, is generated in the continuous production, which meets the request of industry.
