Study The Nature And Deposition Of Silicone Of Shampoo On Hair

This article investigated the effect of surfactants and cationic polymer in shampoos on the deposition of silicone on hair by using the whole spectrum of direct-reading-plasma- atomic-emission-spectrometer and extraction-weighting. The relationship between the deposition of silicone and the shampoo's conditioning properties and the controlled release ability of silicone oil for fragrance deposited on hair were also studied. The results indicated that:1)The method of extraction-weighing can measure the deposition of the silicone on hair accurately; 2) The main surfactant , auxiliary surfactants and cationic polymers all play important role in the deposition of silicone on the hair; 3)The type of surfactant and the ratio of mixture of surfactant have more stronger influence on the deposition of silicone compared with the content of surfactant in shampoos; 4) The shampoo's conditioning properties were improved with the increasing of deposition mass of silicone on hair;5) Generally, the silicone oil deposited on hair had controlled release ability for fragrance deposited on hair. Compared with the shampoos without silicone oil, shampoos with silicone oil can make fragrance deposited on hair stay in the hair three days longer; 6) The fragrance with alcohol hydroxyl group have stronger adsorption ability on the hair, thus, they remained on the hair longer.
