The digital copier is a multifunctional and multipurpose office equipment, which can adapt to the office requirements, namely high quality, high efficiency and high speed in the information age, that thus it becomes more and more popular to the customers. Paper feeding mechanism of the copier decides the copying speed and quality, and has an important influence on the whole product, therefore an intensive study is needed. The design of paper feeding mechanism not only can be applied to the copier, but also can be used for other products with media transmission system, such as ATM, currency count machine, printing machine and so on. The thesis takes Konica 7045 as the object of study and studies the paper transport process of its paper feeding mechanism.According to the principle of paper feed mechanism, the paper pick-up, paper registration and paper feeding are designed in this paper, and then the friction characteristics between a sheet of paper and the paper feed roller in copier as well as that between the other papers are discussed. Subsequently, the paper separation and feed processes are investigated. A calculation model of the paper separate mechanism and the paper feeding is established, and dynamic equations of the paper are derived. After that, MATLAB is used to compile program for the numerical computation of these equations, and the affects of design parameters of the paper separate mechanism and the paper feeding on the dynamic behavior of the paper is analyzed.Utilizing multi-body system dynamics simulation software RecurDyn, the dynamic model of paper feeding is simulated. Comparing to theoretical analysis results, the two kinds of results are close very much, so it verifies the accuracy of the theoretical analysis. Then the dynamic model of paper feeding mechanism of the automatic document feeder is built. Under the mode of the single side to side copy, the effects of the angle of guide, the coefficient of friction between the paper and the paper feed roller and paper thickness on the paper transport process is analyzed.
