With the demanding development of product quality, more and more parts processing are not only X axis,Y axis and Z axis linkage machine tools, but also need B axis and U axis linkage for combined machining. NC facing head is a kind of machine tool accessories, which has U axis'function. It can machines all kinds of complex surface. The present NC facing head has complex structures, it is short of transfer power and difficult to maintain. This paper puts forward a new transmission mechanism, it has features such as simple structure, short drive chain, sufficient transfer power and low cost for these questions. Because of the mechanical structure of it and the special motion, dynamic unbalance appears in machine rotor. By using the simulation analysis, it solve this problem in a way. This paper includes the following aspects:1. This paper introduce current research of NC facing head at home and abroad fistly.2. This paper puts forward a new transmission mechanism and designs mechanical systems and drive system, it also introduces its working principle.3. In UG NX software to use technology to build a three-dimensional solid model, the virtual assembly of the whole model also been studied, space and interference detection.4. The rotor's three-dimensional model will import into ADAMS and carry on between kinematics and dynamics simulation analyze, it solve dynamic unbalance in a way.5. As a result of replaceing servo driver, NC system need to identify stepper motor. We need to change the design of the machine with electric control system.It shorten the product development cycle and reduced the development costs in the application of virtual prototyping technology. The new design solves the problems of the present NC facing head, it can be fitted to Floor Type NC Boring and Milling Machines, to Machining centres and so on.
