Injection molding has become an important molding method in Polymer processing and screw injection molding machine is widespread applied in this field. However, its plasticization theory is based on shear rheology, in which materials are dominated by shear stress; there are some ubiquity disadvantages, such as long thermo-mechanical, high energy consumption, too big equipment structure, and dependence on material properties. The Polymer Vane injection Machine that is newly developed by Prof. Qu Jinping in SCUT can make the flow and deformation of polymer dominated by elongation stress field and solves that problems. Moreover, it brings significant effect on theory of injection molding, especially on the theory of energy transfer during injection molding process. In this paper, the polymer melting model in the vane conveying unit is established and the analytical results of Energy consumption are obtained. Analyze theoretically the polymer melt injection molding process through Archimedes cavity and get the expression of pressure transfer in the melt injection molding with the principle of the vane injection machine operation. Through the experiment of helical cavity injection molding, investigate the influence of proof the result of theoretical calculate. Results from theory and experiment reveal that:the velocity of polymer melting in vane unit depend on the structure parameters and the rotation-speed. The comparison of the results coming from the theoretical calculation and the experiment reveals that these theory models are valid and useful.During the project, Taguchi orthogonal experiment is designed to study the effect of injection parameters on energy consumption with vane injection machine. According to the analysis of its result, the optimized parameter combination is obtained to minimize the energy consumption and the ranking of various process parameters impact energy consumption is reached. The effect of various process parameters—nozzle temperature, injection pressure, packing pressure and packing time, which influence most on the energy consumption in injection process, are discussed by single factor experiments. This study will serve as the theory basis for the optimum conditions of vane injection machine design and processing polymer based on elongation rheology.
