With more complexity and more large-scale in the engineer framework of the Petrochemical industry, it becomes more and more dangerous,it's necessary to carry out safety Information Management System in Petrochemical industry. Recently, based on the development of computation technology, the computer has become the important tool to information management. Traditional method of information management has flaws of time-consuming and poor-adequate results, on the contrary information management based on computer ravel out those disadvantages. Today information management based on computer is widely used over the world.This paper introduce the software tools including DBMS and internet applications for safety information management system, and expatiate to the design method and the realization of database and object oriented(OO)safety information management system, and propose the ideas and aim of improving the system. In this system, polypropylene(PP)is seem as the research object. We design a database of polypropylene (PP)safety information. With Microsoft Access as the database management system(DBMS).This database are composed by a lot of components including the data of substance information, the data of equipments, the data of accident information, the data of law and regulations information, the data of gravely extra large event response plan and the history of technical parameter. We use Microsoft Visual Basic6.0 to program and accomplish those function module .We can operate database through interface,such as data storage, data retrieval,data statistics,data modification,data deletion, and so on.The system is very easy to use, stable in performance, friendly in interface and easy to expand.
