Due to the flexibility of production line, it has been put forward higher requirements for the assembly manufacturing workers who are mainly with manual operation. With the human having an increasingly important and prominent position in the assembly manufacturing system, production capacity, product quality, production costs and competitiveness have a more closer relationships with operation behavior and level of the direct workers, and the operating quality gotten even more attention. Correct understanding the formation of operational behavior of workers and the factors that determine human behavior can improve the operational quality and operational level of the workers, helping enterprises to gain a greater human-machine system effectiveness, with lower production costs to achieve higher product quality, effectively improving the competitiveness of enterprises, so as to stand out in the fierce market competition. Assembly operators, as the main parts completing activities have an impact on assembly systems, so studies for their operating behaviors have an important theoretical and practical significance. In this paper, with the hand-assembly manufacturing production as a background and the single-station single operations as the research objects, it has been conducted studies from two respects for the operator behavior. Firstly, regarding the operating behavior of persons as a series of operation states and operating trace points around tasks with the individual differences of operating environments and individual operators neglected, a theoretical modeling study has been performed for the operator behaviors from the operation procedures and their psychologies. Secondly, from the perspective of the production assembly system as a whole, considering the behavior of human for the influence on the system, and the various internal and external factors causing impact on human behavior, a framework model of assembly operation behavior factors has been constructed. The above two put the operating behavior into the micro-analysis and macro-system environment respectively, comprising the theoretical framework studying assembly operation behavior model together.Firstly, in this paper, assembly operation procedures were analyzed. With the operation tasks as the center, an operating unit model structure with the assembly operations divided into three levels were put forward. Levels of the model are operating states, the operating units and the attributes of units. The subjects of this model are the operating units with operating ideology. Operating Units Analysis Model expressed the operating processes with operating units called, able to more clearly reflect the operating thoughts and process of workers.Secondly, the process of cognitive psychology for assembly operations has analyzed. Based on the operating units structural model, the psychology of each operating unit and operating state has been concluded, corresponding operating units schemata model been established. By psychological schemata of the operating units, the important quality control points in assembly operations were found. By summarizing relevant human error theories, human errors during operation could be predicted. Operation Trace Analysis Model has been constructed in this paper. A case has given in the last demonstrating the application process of the operation trace analysis model.Thirdly, in the paper the influence of operation behaviors on the assembly system was studied, defining the level factors of assembly operating behaviors as dependent variables measuring the influence. An Assembly Operating Behavior Factor Model was proposed, and 35 performance formation factors affecting the operational behaviors was defined and their weights given by a way of expert score. The relationships between various factors during the assembly operation were exploratory studied by a questionnaire way.In this paper, by applying the analysis and optimization methods of the industrial engineering field, by related theories such as engineering psychology, cognitive psychology and human error, the assembly operating behavior processes and its influence on assembly manufacturing systems have been studied and analyzed and an assembly operating behavior model framework constructed.
