Traditional garment CAD-point grading approach is easy to understand, but requires the user to pre-calculate all the key points of the grading, and input them one by one , with large operation and prone to error. According to modern garment pattern design principles and methods, all patterns are divided into basic patterns and style patterns. Based on the basic patterns, we use dart transfer, dart moving, splitting, relaxation and other basic design principles and methods to get the style patterns. Then we put forward a new kind of pattern automatic grading method, which is based on the point-grading method, using basic pattern's grading rules to realize style patterns' automatic grading .It can be well adapted to the changes of apparel styles and patterns zooming of different size system. This article mainly discusses the grading relationship of the basic pattern and the style pattern on the basic principles of the dart transfer. Under the law of the human body structure and pattern rules , we adopt the principle of dart transfers to shifting darts, splitting darts, adding darts and cutting etc, achieving all sorts of styles. In this article, we divide the basic dart transfer into two different situations: the small-angle or big-angle transfer. Then we adopt point-grading method to the basic patterns and figure out the grading rules of the style patterns. At the same time, we will use VC + + programming language to set up the garment CAD automatic grading system. In this system we will achieve making patterns, dart transfers, automatic grading and other functions at the same time, thus making this approach more valuable.
