Short Electric Arc (SEA) cutting technology is our original technology, which is defined as under the action of working medium which is water vapor mixture with a certain percentage pressure, it is an electric cutting method to corrosion removing metal or non-metallic conductive material using SEA discharge group and EDM discharge group which are generated from the two electrodes. SEA machining has advantages of processing materials not conditioned by strength, hardness, toughness and other mechanical properties as well as high processing efficiency, so it is highly attached importance by researches in the areas of Electrical Machining in the world.However, the SEA machine tool for the production is still using the traditional control method. Periodic lengthways feed by the manual control and the proplem of tool electrode depletion in the processing can not be resolved. This thesis researched and designed the numerical control system and tool auto compensation control technique for production machine tool based on experimental DHK6630 CNC machine tools. The results of main research work in the thesis are as follows:(1) According to the technological requirements of SEA CNC machine tools, planning the movement of the machine. The system of numerical control system hardware is establishment, including IPC, PLC, motion control card, stepper motor and drive, Inverter, and a series of related theories.(2) It carried out the single-factor tests of SEA machining tool loss by use of the existing experimental platform and processing materials. A few of solution is presented after considering the approach to solve tool loss.(3) It chooses to design a new automatic tool compensation mechanism. Making the compensation data go back to the CNC system by displacement sensor and data acquisition card, and then a closed-loop of tool automatic compensation system is formed.
