PDM is an effective information integration platform to solve the information isolated island for tire mold enterprise. However, it is urgently to be solved that how PDM system and tire mold enterprise business can be better fusion. Tire mold is typical small quantity of many variety product and need to be customized according to customer requirements. PDM is becoming one of main ways to improve tire mold enterprise ability of respond quickly to customer orders needs and shorten the production cycle. Therefore, unified, concise and perfect tire mold information coding system must be established. Moreover, the tire mold configuration model of PDM-Oriented, configurable and manageable must be established and price list of detailed and accurate should be provided for the customer according to the customized product configuration structure.In this paper, the key technology on product configuration and quotation for tire mold has been studied and automatic quotation system of tire mold is developed based on PDM system. The main contents of the thesis are as follows:(1) Three-sectional parallel coding model of PDM-Oriented which applied to the whole life cycle of the tire mold has been put forward. The coding model is made up of classification code, identification code and auxiliary code. Classification code adopts SML-ID of tire mold, identification code is sequence code, and auxiliary code is used to represent the data types of instances.(2) Product configuration model of tire mold based on ontology and characteristics has been put forward, and configuration process model of tire mold based on PDM is proposed according to configuration model. Configuration ontology was introduced and parts were considered as component class in the configuration model. Characteristic attributes of component class were defined which conducive to configuration knowledge encapsulation and inheritance, while the configuration mold is more comprehensible with UML language presenting.(3) Cost estimation model and quotation model of tire mold have been put forward. System quotation workflow based on CBR was established on the basis of study on case expression, case retrieval, case match and adjustment, and case study in quotation knowledge base.(4) Automatic quotation system of tire mold based on PDM has been developed. Not only the function model and IDEFO model of tire mole automatic quotation were established in the light of the objectives and constraint of the system, but also the C/S structure model and workflow of the system were established. The database of tire mold quotation system based on PDM was designed and system was developed with SQL Server 2005 and Visual C++6.0.Product information coding model and configuration model of tire mold proposed in the paper have been used successfully in the PDM system of a tire mold manufacturing enterprise in Shandong province, automatic quotation system has also been run successfully. It has been found that the tire mold quotation system based on PDM can improve the ability of tire mold enterprises to gain customer orders with a detailed, accurate and reasonable price list.
