Nonferrous metal mine industry is one of the most important pillar industry in China. With develop of metal mine, efficient mining is restricted by the problem of mine water disaster. If the mine inflow is not expelling from mine, production work will be held back; even bring the water inrush accident. It is very dangerous to labor. So, how to pump the water out from the mine in time is important for the mine satety production.At present, many mine pump water artificial, or use relay to control the pump. This way is not merely with high power consumption, great labour intensity, and low production efficiency. It is easy to cause the accident, and bring a little mine economic profit. Therefore, efficient draining with the technique of automation is the trend to most mine.This paper combines the automation improvement of Dahongshan copper mine 485 water sump, and discusses the composition of automation system, the modification of gate valve, the choose of level gauge and flowmeter, The core of autocontrol system (Programmable Automatic Controller), and the develop of upper computer software which monitor the pump in a long distance. The main work and achievements of this paper are as follows:1. The whole automatic monitoring system is the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. It includes three parts:locale control (pump, sensor, and electromagnetic valve); process control (PAC module); supervise control (upper computer).2. The contents of water pump house's improvement are as follow: frist, replace ball valve with electromagnetic valve and resolve opening check valve.3. Use automatic valve in stead of manual valve. Use Shuohua ADAM PAC as industrial controller. PAC is including DI module, DO module and AI module. Electric machine contact points are link to DI module. The coils of electric machine relay and electromagnetic valve are link to DO module. Level gauges and flowmeters are link to AI module. CUP module is used to process data and give off command to other modules. PAC is connected with upper computer through industrial ethernet.4. MultiProg is selected as PAC programming tool. King view software is used to develop user interface in upper computer of SCADA system. Microsoft SQL server 2000 is used for Database management system (DBMS).With the improvement of water pump house, installation of PAC, upper computer software and DBMS, Dahongshan copper mine 485 water sump autocontrol and monitor system is established successfully. This system has local manual, remote automatic and remote manual three models to control pump. It can real-time monitor the running state of pump, and store the data of running state in DBMS.
