This paper aims to predict the external characteristic of the flue gas desulphurization pump (FGD Pump) by using the similarity theory to guide this hydraulic design and numerical simulation method to study the inner three-phase flow field.This paper mainly made a research to the hydraulic design and emulation of the FGD pump by adopting similarity theory to guide this hydraulic design, Solid-works to make the 3d models of impeller and scroll casing and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to simulate the internal flow field. With the diagnosis of the inner flow field, adjustments of the designed proposal were carried out until the feasible proposal was avilable.The results of the study are as follows: the pump head, efficiency and power all achieved the customer's requirements. The designed FGD pump should be improved by the experiment results.This paper also made a preliminary study about the materials for the FGD pump.There is experiments saying that the azotic extra-low-carbon stain less steel, high-chromium alloy, ceramics are good materials for the FGD pump.
