Coal bed methane is associated gas in the generation process of coal, it is clean and new energy source with high-value and high-quality use. If it is directly discharged into the air, that is a tremendous waste and also pollutes the environment. So exploitation is needed. Because CBM generation, save, migration and production mechanism are different from conventional oil and gas wells, it can not be directly applied to oil and gas wells drainage process. In this paper, production work, technology, process characteristics of different CBM drainage gas process commonly used in the current were analyzed, integrating the CBM production data, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method was used mainly from the drainage volume, coal, sand, inclination, gas of technical factors and economic factors to optimize drainage process for coal bed methane wells. Rod pump as the better way for drainage, it was analyzed for the basic parameters, then the basic parameters of pump were selected such as the diameter, stroke, pumping combination of rods and tubing, besides, the type of pumping equipments and power plants was selected, the selection graphic of unit and pump type was developed, and equipment was checked based on field data to get the correct type for coal bed methane drainage, this method can guide the optimization of CBM drainage.
