Coal mine is the place where safety accidents often happen. Gas explosion, coalspontaneous combustion, coal dust explosion, roof accidents and flooding accidents, weregreat proportion in coal mine accidents. Thus, assessment on the hazards of coal mine was anurgent problem in safety management that need resolvement. In this paper, the current development and safety situation of coal industry in china wasanalyzed, the significance and basic content of the hazard risk assessment was illustrated, andthe research status on risk assessment at home and abroad was briefly introduced.Firstly, based on three kinds of hazard theory, the mechanism and effect factors ofcausing mine hazards(gas explosion, coal spontaneous combustion, coal dust explosion, roofaccidents and flooding accidents) was discussed, and three kinds of hazards on coal mine isanalyzed theoretically, on the basis of theoretical analysis, models of the colliery accidenthazard effect factors were established.Secondly, aim to the five common kinds of accidents(gas explosion, coal-selfignition,coal dust explosion, roof accidents, flooding accidents), combined with on-site conditions, from the point of the mechanism and effect factors of hazard theory, typical indexes wereindentified, index system of assessment models of hazard root were properly built.Newly, through the illustration of risk assessment methods, by using expert qusetionairemethod and analytic hierachy process, the values of indexes was confirmed. Riskassessment on the hazards of the five kinds of accidents which often happen on coal minewere analyzed and studied by using the method of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation.Eventually, in the application for on-site conditions, depending on interrelated technicalstandards and regulations on coal mine, safety checklist was worked out, and the membership degree of each index was determined through expert estimation on the spot. An applicationexample is given to assess a coal mine in Xin-jiang, and a conclusion was drawn that the coalworking face was in the comparative safety level.
